The walk in the woods
by Ivan Ling

Down the woods I walk,
trees surrounds me.
Their lush green canopy,
surrounds me with tranquility.
The monkeys' cry and the birds' flapping melody
fills my heart with great glory.

The woods is such a misnomer,
for a jungle is where I walked.
Burning excess fat and laziness,
improving my health without medication.
Our jungle is our asset,
while developments are our liability.
"Make way for improvement!!" they say,
"Protect our asset!!" is what I'll say!
Feeling at peace as I write,
this poem of green and nature.

Down the woods I walk,
admiring the beauty of nature.
Sounds of crickets fills my ear,
the harsh reality fills my brain.
Our forest is diminishing,
even as I write this poem.
So, my friends I'm telling thee!
Protect the forest! Is our duty!
